Our master’s programs are offered online4 or on campus.
In most cases, you need a bachelor’s degree to enroll in a master’s program. A master’s degree is designed to build upon undergraduate coursework, laying a foundation for graduate study.
Many careers in healthcare, education, social work and STEM fields often prefer or require a master’s degree. Roles such as nurse practitioner, education administrator, school or mental health counselor and social worker typically require graduate-level education for entry or advancement.5 According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, occupations requiring a master’s degree are projected to grow faster than usual and offer higher median wages, on average.5
GCU does not require the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for admission to our master’s programs. Many universities have moved away from standardized test requirements, especially for professional or online programs, focusing instead on academic transcripts, work experience and personal statements. According to Indeed and other career resources, requirements vary by field and institution, so it’s important to check with each program directly.6

At GCU, students who aspire to advanced positions in their fields can consider pursuing dual master’s degrees in business administration and leadership. Dual degrees allow students to gain two distinct degrees, but through a coordinated and unified curriculum.
This degree, offered by the College of Education, is a regionally accredited program approved by the State of Arizona. It aligns with the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL, 2015) led by the National Policy Board for Educational Administration (NPBEA, 2018).
‡ MOU 10215: The New Graduate Student Holiday Scholarship is only valid for those applicants who submit a complete application, meet all requirements for acceptance and start their program in December 2025. If you enroll in an online or evening graduate program (excluding the MSN Bridge and nurse practitioner programs), we will award you a $500 scholarship toward your tuition, which will be applied over your first academic year, as defined in the University Policy Handbook. This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other GCU scholarship/awards. This scholarship will be applied toward your tuition only, and you will not receive funds in excess of your charges.
± MOU 9708: This scholarship is only valid for new students who are participating in a GCU evening-campus program, offered on GCU’s main campus, and who submit a completed application to start their program on or before December 31, 2025. If you enroll in an evening-campus program, Grand Canyon University will offer you 20% off the tuition per course for your program. This scholarship will be applied at the same time the tuition charges occur. This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other GCU scholarships/awards. This scholarship will be applied toward your tuition only and does not include fees (i.e., Canyon Connect, Technology, etc.).
